How Small Business VoIP Pricing Works

One dollar bill

VoIP pricingVoIP services can be a huge boon to a small business.

Not only does VoIP offer a flexibility that you won’t find with landline phone systems, but the pricing for small business VoIP services also beats just about any other small business phone service you might try.

Here at Phone.com, for instance, you can start with a base plan as low as $9.99 per month if you’re a sole proprietor or other small business that needs limited monthly minutes; given all of the features that are included with your account, that’s a price that’s hard to beat.

How does small business VoIP pricing work, though? As you’ll see, it all depends on what the specific needs of your business are.

Core Package Plans

Pricing for your VoIP plan begins with a core package.

Depending on your service provider, there may be several package options available; we offer three distinct packages, with either 300, 500 or 1,000 minutes of talk time per month. Typically, you’ll choose the core package that best fits the needs of your business now or in the near future.

For example, if you only use around 250 minutes of talk time per month, a 1,000-minute plan isn’t going to be a good fit for your business even if you expect to see a lot more phone usage five or 10 years down the line.

Some VoIP providers offer different features for their core package plans, so you should keep the needs of your business in mind as you review them as well. While we offer the same core features to all of our customers, if another VoIP company only offers features that your business needs on its high-end plans then you’ll need to consider buying the more expensive plan to meet your needs.

Monthly Fees

Once you have a core plan picked out, you’ll have a monthly fee that covers all of your minutes and features.

In some cases, the monthly fee will be the same each month from the time that you sign up. In other cases, a lower introductory fee will let you get started at a slightly lower rate while you get everything connected and set up all of the service’s features. Once that introductory period is over, the regular monthly fee will begin and continue for as long as you are a customer.

Included Services

Depending on your VoIP provider, you may have a number of features and services included in your core plan.

Here at Phone.com, for example, we offer 50+ features with every plan. These include common features such as voicemail, call screening, hold music and an accessible digital address book, as well as useful features such as voicemail-to-email options, SMS/texting features, an on-the-go mobile app and the ability to add unlimited users to your account.

Some companies don’t have standard packages, instead offering select features for low-end accounts and building on that for higher tiers. Be sure to check out the full list of included features before buying any plan to ensure that you’re getting exactly what you need for your business.

Additional Services

In addition to basic services, additional features and services are also available for an additional fee.

As an example of our additional services, you can add new phone numbers (local or toll-free) to your account, add bundles of additional minutes (or opt for unlimited minutes), add call recording options and even get premium hold music or professionally-recorded voicemail greetings and menu items.

Other premium services may be available as well. The additional features and services you choose may affect your monthly bill, though some of these services consist only of a one-time fee.

Beyond Basic VoIP Pricing – Custom Plans

If you can’t find just what you’re looking for from a core package and add-ons, custom VoIP plans may be available as well.

VoIP Pricing can vary depending on what you need, but the plan will be tailored to your small business and how it uses its phones. While we pride ourselves on the coverage that our basic plans offer, we’ll be more than happy to discuss a custom plan with you if your business has specific needs or presents a unique situation that our other plans don’t cover. Between our feature set and an available API, you can use the base Phone.com plans to build the custom phone system your business needs.
