Phone.com Allows You To Block Text Message Spam

I love working for Phone.com and really feel like they have a powerful and industry leading service plus I don’t dread Monday mornings. One of my favorite things is finding new benefits that I didn’t know about before. Just today I found a new feature in addition to the more then 60 others.

I’ve been getting a lot of text spam lately. It’s on both my personal cell phone my Phone.com number. The volume is surprising, I used to get 1 or 2 a month and now I’m getting 3-4 every week. I’ve been in touch with my mobile service provider but there’s nothing they can or will do about it except to offer to block ALL incoming texts, obviously I don’t want that. So no matter what I do I’m stuck getting spam SMS on my personal cell phone which is annoying and they seem to disturb me at the worst times.

On the other hand, I was also getting spam text messages on my Phone.com work number and of course it was also at the most inopportune times like when I’m reading to my daughter. After a few messages I remembered that I could block any number from calling me in my Phone.com control panel so I figured I’d try blocking the numbers sending me the spam text messages and low and behold it worked. I am now taking the time to block the numbers that are sending me spam SMS. In fact I haven’t got even 1 yet this week and I hope it stays that way.

Blocking SMS senders takes only a few steps. Once you log into your Phone.com control panel you click on Inbox on the left. At this point you click the Options button (which is 3rd over from the sending number). You’ll get a drop down and select Block This Caller. That’s it. If you want to unblock someone head over to the Call Blocking page and under Spam Callers List in red find the number you want to unblock and click the trash can to the right of it. That’s all folks. It’s very easy and worth my time at least.
