After Hours Greetings – what a simple concept…
Having clients over seas for many years now I came to learn many things about the worlds perception of the US. Many (by no means all) people tend to think the US is just 1 time zone and most people assume it’s Eastern which is 3 hours ahead of where I live near Los Angeles. This has caused me to have many phone calls from people at 6am who think it’s 9am where I am. Now for some people that’s not a big deal but for me it is. I have been known to be a tad grumpy in the mornings. On top of all that my family time is limited and I rarely take phone calls on the weekends.
So having an after hours greeting system is very beneficial to me and many others I would imagine. All my after hour calls are filtered by the Phone.com greeting service which most of the time has people just leave a message after being told I won’t get back to them until Monday. I do however tell them that if it’s very important I will get their message and respond if necessary right away.
After hour greetings are extremely important for all kinds of businesses, from stores telling the caller what time they open, to a school letting parents know about a common virus going around. It may be a callers first interaction with your company and it is important to make it memorable in a good way, not just a “leave a message after the tone”.
