FAQs: Analog Telephone Adapter
What is an ATA?
An ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) converts a traditional phone into a VoIP phone without the need to buy a separate headset or terminal.
How do I add an ATA to my account?
To add an ATA to an existing account, select the Extensions option from the navigation bar then select "Add an Extension".
Is the ATA something you ship to me?
Yes, the ATA (analog telephone adapter) will be shipped to you. Please make sure you have confirmed your shipping address within the Phone.com account. Please note the following:
(1) We ship via FedEx therefore a signature is required upon delivery.
(2) We cannot ship to PO Boxes or International Addresses, including Canada.
(3) Please allow 7 to 10 business days to receive your device after it has been processed.
I accidentally confirmed my shipping address to the wrong location but my device already is in transit. Can this be updated?
In most cases, we can reroute your package. Please note that there is a one time $11 fee to reroute packages. Please contact our customer support as soon as possible and make sure to provide us with the new address (including suites, etc.) and person's name to put to the attention of, along with a contact phone number for this location.
We have noticed that when we enter touch tone digits to systems that require PINs or such, that digits are dropped.
There are three of us that this is happening with, and we all have Linksys ATA boxes that you folks sent us.
The same phones on different systems do not have this problem.
Can this be fixed?
DTMF issues are incredibly tricky to figure out. We have spent countless hours determining the best combination of settings for the greatest compatibility. Unfortunately the nature of an "adapter" is that it will not work as effectively as a native SIP device. The issue that we have here is that for whatever reason the ATA cannot either "hear" or "understand" the DTMF that the analog phone is putting out. Some phones simply don't work as one might expect, and there are countless forum pages dedicated to nothing but tweaking settings until it does.
Options can include:
- Adjust the volume slider in the Settings page of the Control Panel. Try adjusting this first, and reboot the ATA to grab the change.
- Try using a different analog phone to see if the issue persists.
- Try manually changing the various DTMF settings until it works. For more advice on changing these settings, please contact customer support.
Where can I view the tracking ID of my ATA?
To view the FedEx tracking ID of your shipment, please login to your account and select the "Home" option from the navigation bar. Select the "View Order Status" link.
