Letter From the CEO
Dear Friends,
I hope you are enjoying your summer and had a fun Independence Day celebration! (yes time flies so you probably forgot about 4th of July weekend already..). Independence is a good theme for us also – we firmly believe that you, our customer, should have the freedom to choose from a variety of services that work best for your needs! Please take a moment to read through this newsletter and hear about some of the great things Phone.com has been up to over the past few months.
Personally, I am most excited about our continued growth, new affiliations, evolving service offerings and most of all the great feedback we continue to get from our customers.
One of our exciting updates is our new partnership with the Tarkenton Companies. Many of you may know Fran Tarkenton, the NFL Hall Of Fame quarterback, from his illustrious sports career. Well I have had the pleasure of getting to know him as a successful businessman who has taken a particular interest in offering a host of solutions for small businesses.
Phone.com will offer and market our solutions and services to the small business owners who use Tarkenton Company solutions and vice versa.

Employee Spotlight: Jenny Dempsey

Customer Service Supervisor, as interviewed by our Community Manager Jeb Brilliant
Jeb: Tell me what you do at Phone.com and a little about your background?
Jenny: My responsibilities at Phone.com include resolving escalated customer issues, managing the number porting department, developing documentation for reps and customers, and whatever else the day throws at me!
Accomplishments (personal) – Obtained my BA in English from San Diego State University. In 2005, I won a songwriting contest and appeared in Teen People magazine.
Jeb: What do you like to do outside of work?
Jenny: I enjoy spending time with my friends and my two cats, Shamrock and Clover. I love going to the beach and I love to read. Most of all, I LOVE travelling! I’ve been to Ireland, Italy, and Israel, Canada and Mexico plus many states within the US. I can’t wait to add more destinations to my list!
Jeb: Where is the strangest place you’ve gotten a call?
Jenny: I personally didn’t receive this call, but my boss did. The customer called from the bathroom. How did he know? He heard the toilet flush during their conversation!
Jeb: What is your favorite Phone.com feature?
Jenny: Routing calls based on entries in your Address Book. I have all incoming calls from my sister to play silly recordings then forward to my cell phone, whereas everyone else goes to a Menu system.
Jeb: What in your opinion is the most under-utilized Phone.com feature?
Jenny: It’s the little things that are under utilized, such as “Caller ID To Show Me” when forwarding to your cell phone (it’s SO convenient to have it display your Phone.com number). Also, “Play Hold Music While Waiting” is a great option for your callers to listen to recordings rather than hearing the standard ring tone when forwarding to your phone.
Jeb: What is your favorite hold music?
Jenny: I uploaded my own from those Geico commercials–the “Ring a ding ding dong” song!
Jeb: What is your favorite movie of all time?
Jenny: Anchorman
JENNY’S TIP:
How to set the “Caller ID to Show Me”: this is a setting in the “NUMBERS” section of your account.
- Click on the “EDIT” icon to the right of your number and then to the right of “Number Action” select “EDIT”
- Then to the right of your phone number is another settings icon between the “Add ANOTHER NUMBER” and “TRASH” icons.
- Select the Setting icon and just below it you will see “CALLER ID TO SHOW ME” : and select your number.
This can also be modified on your “EXTENSION” tab.
It’s just that easy but if you have problems don’t hesitate to call us!
