Phone.com Group SMS is a FREE service that allows you to create an SMS (text) conference with a group of friends. Each participant can choose to accept messages from all and can respond to all. No smartphone needed to use it. Group SMS is compatible with any SMS capable device. |

Try Phone.com Group SMS
Instructions:
- Enter your mobile number and nickname°
- Enter your friends' mobile number and nickname°
- Click "Create Group"
Follow the instructions in the confirmation SMS from your new group.
°Nicknames are seen by all participants.
*Phone numbers must be formatted as +CountryAreaNumber, e.g. +16195551212
How to Use The Group SMS iPhone App
- Add your contact details in the “Settings” tab
- In the “Contacts” tab hit the “+” and create a new group by adding the names and phone numbers of your friends
- Hit “Initiate”
After you press “Initiate”, Group SMS will launch the iPhone texting app. You will receive a text message from your new group bridge. The Caller ID of this text can be added to your address book if this group is to be used more than once. The group bridge will also text the friends in your group. Your friends will have to accept a request to join before receiving any messages from the group. Once in the group, anyone can text “help” to receive group instructions.
Once the bridge is established you will perform all the communications with your group directly from your texting app. The difference is that the group number you will be sending to will forward the message to all the friends you added to the group.
Note: Group SMS only initiates the group and then finishes its job. All other SMS/text communication within the group will take place in your iPhone texting app.
Moderator Bridge Commands
Being the creator of the group or the “moderator”, you can add more friends and remove friends or stop the group. To make all that happen you can send a few commands to the bridge.
Moderator Commands
| add phone# name | Adds a new participant. You need to specify the person’s phone number and name. |
| kick name | Removes a participant from the bridge and he/she will no longer get messages from that group. |
| list | Lists the participants and adds asterisks near the names who did not accept the request for participation. |
| mute | Moderator command the prevents others from speaking. |
| unmute | Moderator command that allows others to speak again. |
| pause | User command that prevents that user from receiving messages. |
| unpause | User resumes receiving messages. |
| stop | Kill the bridge. |
| help | Send you this description. |
Note: phone# must be well formatted for international use. Use the +CountryAreaNumber format.
How to Use Group SMS From a Feature Phone
Your friends using other devices can also initiate groups by sending a text to 1-973-577-6378 and start adding friends using the above commands.
Another option is to send the following text message to: 1-973-577-6378
#A nameA #B nameB #C nameC YourName
Replace #X with your friend’s phone numbers and names.
