Adding a Home Phone service to your Virtual Office

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 9:56 PM EST

I was sitting in a meeting last week when we started talking about someone who has a Virtual Office account at work and wants to add a line at home for personal and family use. What’s the best option for them? This made me think of a blog post Alon our CTO wrote, about adding lines to his Virtual Office account instead of starting a new account.

After thinking about this for a while I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’re a Virtual Office user and you need to add phone numbers, like maybe your home phone, a side business or maybe you want to give your kids a phone number they can use, you should consider adding to your Virtual Office account. One of the big benefits is that you will only have 1 account to manage. Only 1 account to receive a bill for and only 1 account to set up global forwarding if you choose to when you travel.

Basically adding numbers to your Virtual Office number will make your life a little easier and save you time and money. Who doesn’t want to save that these days. So call our customer service number and ask them for help if you have any questions. They’re there 24hours a day. If you decide to do this let me know how it’s helped you if you would like to share, my email is Jeb@Phone.com.

International Calling? Keep Your Rates Low

Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at 3:44 PM EST

Buying a calling card to make a call overseas is something some of us still do every now and then. But this makes one wonder – why haven’t phone companies offered more reasonable international calling rates to customers, keeping the phone card industry thriving even today, when so many other telephony options are available? Many land-line telephony providers only include Canada and Mexico in their international calling plans, charging an arm and a leg for calling anywhere else; others add connection fees to your monthly bill on top of charging a high per minute rate every time you call anywhere in Europe or Asia.

So just when it seems like a calling card is the only solution, Phone.com steps in with its international calling features that can be added to both your home, business and most important, your mobile phone.

Phone.com understands the fast-paced world of today and the importance of being able to reach out to faraway places with ease and be equally reachable when on the move. That is why land-line calls to Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and a few other countries are included in its very basic package and you incur no extra cost calling someone in any of those countries or forwarding a call there. When you are travelling and cannot access your computer, your Phone.com’s VoIP international calling options are still accessible from your cell phone using Phone.com Mobile Office or simply by dialing your Phone.com number and follow the steps to place a call to any number overseas.

Phone.com also provides two types of international number options for customers who are expecting to be overseas a lot or have clients, business associates or relatives who need to reach them from abroad.

Keeping the cost of international calls low is important, especially for those who have relatives abroad or do business in various countries and thus have to call internationally quite often. Relying on your land-line may not be cost-effective, but Phone.com can offer a rescue with its attractive rates and high-quality service. Remember to call our 24/7 customer support center to activate the international calling or forwarding feature.

Teenagers, home phones, and VoIP services – Shifting the Balance of Power

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 at 1:30 PM EST

A household with one or more teenagers is often the one where parents are at a disadvantage. Teens like to talk to their friends, text their classmates, and keep in touch with their peers in every way imaginable. If you are a parent of a sociable teen, you probably rarely have your home phone line free and all to yourself. Restriction of phone usage may work; many parents are advised to restrict their children’s call duration to thirty minutes each and reserve the hours between 7 and 9PM for reading or homework (or basically – quiet, no-talk time). One can also employ a tool such as call waiting and create a rule for a teen to immediately report any incoming calls and not keep a caller waiting for more than a few minutes.

While all these methods are good, the ball is still in your child’s court, as he or she virtually dictates the time when you or your spouse can use the phone. Balance of power does not shift through confrontation, thus Phone.com offers a simple solution that can give both you and your teenager enough time on the phone with friends and relatives.

Phone.com offers plans starting at $9.88 a month and one of its features allows you to route incoming calls to any member of the family, provided additional lines are in the plan. For a parent that works from home, the two-lines and two-numbers Virtual Office plan helps keep all business calls separate from those of your teenager’s friends. Combined with sharp sound quality and lots of added features, such as low-priced international calling, text voicemail, and hold music, among many others, Phone.com’s VoIP service package is the best over-the-internet telephony experience you and your family can have. And your teen-aged offspring will never have to complain about his/her phone being taken away!

Yes, many if not all teenagers have cell phones these days and Phone.com calls can also be routed to any cell phone so if you are not at home you can answer your home number on your cell or even dial out of your cell phone and send and receive SMS messages all while using your home phone number.
