Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and in preparation for the big day I sent an email to our employees asking them what they are thankful for. My challenge was to state it in 140 characters or less. While we didn’t achieve that across the board, here are some of the responses I received.
“I’m thankful for the spontaneous order born from the self-interest of individuals that leads innumerable people, each working for his own gain, to promote ends that benefit many.”
“I am thankful for family, friends, health and happiness.”
“It’s hard to sum up what I’m thankful for in 140 characters because there is so much! I guess I’m one lucky girl to have such a problem”
“I am thankful to our customers who pay our salaries and to all our employees for coming to work every day.”
“I am thankful for my family, my health, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our world.”
“I am thankful for life and this body I have been given to live in. I am simply a dot in the spectrum, a mere fiber of a being in the wholeness of the universe and all that is but I am strong, I am healthy and I am alive!”
As you can see we are all over the spectrum with our thankfulness but allow me to tie this all together. If we only reserve thankfulness to one day per year we are missing out on a tremendous opportunity. Regardless of what you are thankful for this year, when you approach life with a grateful attitude it is always better.
What do you say we vow this year to make every day Thanksgiving? Does that mean turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes every night for dinner? I guess if that floats your boat. My real challenge is that we choose to find ways to be thankful every day. At Phone.com, I am thankful for the amazing people I get to work with and the awesome customers we get to serve. I resolve to find ways to show this thankfulness on a daily basis. Happy Thanksgiving!
