How can Phone.com help save your family money?

I decided to do a comparison of Phone.com Home Phone Plus service against my local provider after reading that “Nearly 2/3 of US consumers switched to a cheaper household products” in the Wall Street Journal. I don’t want to name the local provider so for the sake of this post we’ll call them Horizon.

Horizon charges $54.99/month plus tax with a 30 day contract but they did say there’s a possibility I could get lucky and get a discount to $39.99 if I talk with a nice rep. Huh? so it’s luck??? Anyways Horizon offers:
• Caller ID
• Call Waiting
• 3 Way Calling
• Voicemail

Phone.com charges $19.88/month plus tax with no yearly contract. There’s a 1 time $29.95 fee for the ATA if you need one (it allows you to connect your regular home phone to the Phone.com service). Phone.com offers a whole list of features including everything Horizon offers and
• Caller ID
• Call Waiting
• 3 Way Calling
• Voicemail
• Simultaneous Ring (have more then just your home phone ring when you get a call)
• Call forwarding (Forward all incoming calls to another number)

So now that we have a clear picture what does it really mean? It means that Phone.com is going to be $35.11 cheaper/month for me (not including taxes). So why aren’t you switching? What could it be that’s holding you back? Anything at all? I called Horizon back a second time to go through their list of features again and ask them if there were any persuading factors and you know what they told me? That there weren’t any. I couldn’t even get the guy to tell me Horizon was any better then any other service. I straight forward asked him and he wouldn’t say it.

I can’t imagine being with a phone company that didn’t think they were the best and didn’t care to tell their potential customers that. Back to the point, if you want to save $35.11/month or $421.32/ year then switch to Phone.com. You will get the BEST phone service around at the best price and 24/7 customer service. You’ll also get to keep your current telephone number and set up (if you’re like me it’s a cordless telephone system) and just need to plug your home phone into the ATA and the ATA in to your router.
